megatonne
Massive explosive yield
A megatonne is a unit of mass equal to one million metric tonnes, used mainly to measure the explosive yield of nuclear weapons.
The yield is expressed as the equivalent energy released by detonating that mass of TNT: a fifteen-megatonne warhead.
Also spelled megaton.
