mahimahi

Hawaiian menu fish

Mahimahi is a large, brightly colored fish found in warm ocean waters, prized as a food fish for its firm, mild flesh.

Also called dolphinfish—though unrelated to dolphins, the marine mammals.

The Hawaiian name has largely replaced dolphinfish in American restaurants and markets to avoid confusion: grilled mahimahi with mango salsa.
