Almond meringue sandwich
A macaron is a delicate French sandwich cookie made from almond flour, egg whites, and sugar, with a filling between two round meringue-based shells.
The shells have a smooth top, ruffled edge (called the "foot"), and slightly chewy interior.
Macarons come in many flavors and colors: pistachio macarons, a box of assorted macarons.
Not to be confused with macaroon, a denser coconut-based cookie.
