macaronis

Elbow-shaped noodles

Macaronis is the plural of macaroni, the tube-shaped pasta.

In 18th-century England, macaronis were young men who affected exaggerated continental fashions and mannerisms—hence the "Yankee Doodle" lyric about sticking a feather in his cap and calling it macaroni, meaning he thought the gesture made him stylish.
