lower school
Younger students' division
Lower school is the division of an educational institution serving the youngest students, typically kindergarten through fourth or fifth grade.
The term appears mainly in private schools and preparatory academies that span multiple age groups: My daughter is still in lower school, but her brother moved to middle school last year.
It distinguishes younger students from those in middle school and upper school.
