loopers

Caterpillars that arch

Loopers are caterpillars that move by arching their bodies into a loop, drawing the rear toward the front before extending forward again—inchworms move this way.

The term extends to anything that loops: a machine that forms loops, a person who loops film or audio, or in golf slang, a caddie who loops the course carrying bags.
