foot pedal
Toe-operated control
A foot pedal is a lever operated by the foot, used to control a machine or instrument.
Sewing machines, pianos, and cars all have foot pedals.
The term is slightly redundant—pedals are by definition foot-operated—but distinguishes from hand controls: The guitar effect has both a foot pedal and a knob for adjustment.
