loganberry

Raspberry-blackberry offspring fruit

A loganberry is a dark red berry that's a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry, with the tartness of the former and some sweetness of the latter.

Named after the American horticulturist James Logan, who developed it in the 1880s.

Loganberries are used in jams, pies, and wine: The loganberry pie was almost too tart without ice cream.
