lockouts

Employer-imposed work stoppages

Lockouts is the plural of lockout, a situation where workers are prevented from entering their workplace by management during a labor dispute—the employer's counterpart to a strike.

The term extends to being shut out of any system or space: After three failed password attempts, lockouts are automatic.

In sports, a lockout occurs when team owners suspend play during contract negotiations with players.
