Permission not granted
Access denied is a message indicating that permission to view, enter, or use something has been refused.
It appears most often as a computer or system notification when a user lacks authorization: The screen flashed "access denied" when I tried to open the file.
More broadly, it describes any situation where entry or permission is blocked: It was access denied at the velvet rope.
