light meter
Photographer's brightness reader
A light meter measures the intensity of light, used primarily in photography to determine proper exposure settings.
Photographers check the light meter before setting aperture and shutter speed: The light meter says we need more fill light.
Most modern cameras have built-in light meters, though professionals often use handheld versions for greater precision.
