speedlight
Portable camera flash
A speedlight is a portable flash unit that mounts on a camera's hot shoe, providing artificial light for photography.
Unlike built-in camera flashes, speedlights are more powerful, can be angled and rotated for bounce lighting, and often work wirelessly as part of multi-flash setups.
Professional and amateur photographers use them for everything from portraits to event coverage.
I packed two speedlights for the wedding reception.
