strepsirrhine

Lemur or loris

A strepsirrhine is a primate of the suborder Strepsirrhini, which includes lemurs, lorises, and galagos.

These primates are distinguished from monkeys and apes by their wet noses, more reliance on smell, and typically smaller brains relative to body size.

Strepsirrhines are found in Madagascar and parts of Africa and Asia.

The term comes from Greek words meaning "curved nose," referring to the comma-shaped nostrils.
