domestic animal
Tamed home companion
A domestic animal is one bred and kept by humans for work, food, companionship, or other purposes—dogs, cats, cattle, horses, chickens.
The term distinguishes tamed species from wild animals and sometimes from pets specifically: Domestic animals are not permitted in the building may exclude even a lapdog.
Domestication implies generations of selective breeding, not merely taming an individual wild creature.
