A league table is a ranking of competitors by performance, originally from sports leagues where teams are ordered by wins, losses, and points.
The term extends to any comparative ranking: The university dropped in the league tables, a league table of hospital wait times.
Primarily British usage; Americans typically say rankings or standings.
