leaguer

Player on roster

Leaguer has two distinct sources.

One means a member of a league—someone participating in an organized group, especially in sports: a little leaguer, a major leaguer.

The other, now archaic, refers to a military siege or the camp of a besieging army: The leaguer lasted through winter.

The membership sense dominates modern usage.
