latinization
Making something Roman
Latinization is the process of adapting something to Latin form or character.
Most often this means converting words, names, or writing systems into Latin script or Latin-style spelling: the latinization of Chinese place names.
It can also refer to bringing practices in line with the Latin rite of the Roman Catholic Church, or more broadly, imposing Latin cultural patterns on non-Latin peoples. (Capitalized Latinization is identical in meaning.)
