land rush

Claim your plot

A land rush is a sudden, competitive scramble to claim available territory or resources.

The term comes from historical events where governments opened previously restricted land for settlement, and crowds literally raced to stake claims: the Oklahoma land rush of 1889.

Now used for any frenzied competition for limited opportunity: a land rush for beachfront property, a digital land rush for domain names.
