keep-alive
Prevents session timeout
Keep-alive refers to a signal or mechanism that maintains an otherwise idle connection.
In networking, a keep-alive packet tells a server I'm still here so it doesn't close the connection.
The term applies broadly to any periodic check that prevents timeout: The app sends keep-alive pings every thirty seconds.
As an adjective, it modifies the mechanism itself: keep-alive interval, keep-alive setting.
