Plucked metal tines

A kalimba is a small handheld musical instrument with a wooden body and metal tines of varying lengths that produce notes when plucked with the thumbs.

Also called a thumb piano, it originated in Africa and creates a soft, bell-like tone: She played a gentle melody on the kalimba.
