inbetweener
Not quite either
An inbetweener is someone or something that falls between two categories or stages.
Most commonly, it describes a person who is neither one thing nor another—a teenager who is no longer a child but not yet an adult, or someone caught between social groups: She felt like an inbetweener, too nerdy for the cool kids but too social for the loners.
In animation, an inbetweener draws the transitional frames between key poses.
