inauthenticity
Lack of genuineness
Inauthenticity is the quality of being fake, false, or not genuine.
The word applies to objects that aren't what they claim to be—a forged painting, a knockoff handbag—but more often describes people whose behavior feels performative or insincere: There was an inauthenticity to his apology that made it hard to accept.
In philosophical contexts, particularly existentialism, inauthenticity refers to living according to external expectations rather than one's own values.
