image intensifier
Night vision core
An image intensifier is a device that amplifies low levels of light to produce a visible image, used in night-vision equipment, medical imaging, and astronomy.
It works by converting photons to electrons, multiplying them, then converting back to light: The scope's image intensifier let us observe wildlife after dark.
