hyperactivation
Beyond normal activation
Hyperactivation is the state of being excessively or abnormally activated.
In biology, it describes cells or systems functioning at heightened levels: sperm hyperactivation, immune hyperactivation.
In psychology, it refers to an overactive attachment system—anxious vigilance about relationships and abandonment.
The term appears in technical contexts where something meant to activate has gone into overdrive.
