hurricane alley
Tropical cyclone zone
Hurricane Alley is the stretch of warm Atlantic waters from the west coast of Africa through the Caribbean to the Gulf of Mexico, where conditions favor hurricane formation.
Most Atlantic hurricanes that strike the Americas originate or intensify in this corridor: Florida sits right in the middle of Hurricane Alley.
The term sometimes applies to any region with frequent hurricane activity.
