Great Lakes region
North-central American territory
The Great Lakes region is the area surrounding the five large freshwater lakes—Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario—on the U.S.-Canada border.
In American usage, it typically refers to the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, along with parts of Pennsylvania and New York.
The region is associated with industrial manufacturing, harsh winters, and a distinctive accent: She grew up in the Great Lakes region.
