hole saw

Ring-shaped drill bit

A hole saw is a cylindrical cutting tool with saw teeth around its rim, used to cut circular holes in wood, metal, plastic, or drywall.

It attaches to a drill and removes a disk-shaped plug rather than grinding away all the material: I need a two-inch hole saw for the doorknob.

Also called a hole cutter.
