historic counties
Original administrative divisions
Historic counties are traditional territorial divisions of a country, especially in Britain and Ireland, that predate modern administrative boundaries.
These ancient units—like Yorkshire, Cornwall, or County Cork—retain cultural significance and local identity even when they no longer serve as official government districts.
My family has lived in the historic county of Devon for generations.
