higher consciousness
Expanded spiritual perception
Higher consciousness is a state of expanded awareness beyond ordinary waking perception.
The term appears in spiritual traditions, New Age philosophy, and psychedelic discourse to describe experiences of profound insight, unity with the universe, or transcendence of the ego: Meditation can lead to higher consciousness.
The concept assumes consciousness exists on a spectrum, with everyday awareness occupying a lower rung.
