dry weight
Moisture-free measurement reading
Dry weight is the weight of something with all moisture removed—what remains after complete drying.
In medicine, it's a patient's ideal weight without excess fluid, especially for dialysis patients: Her dry weight is 140 pounds.
For vehicles or equipment, dry weight excludes fuel, oil, and other fluids: The motorcycle's dry weight is 450 pounds.
In biology, researchers measure dry weight to compare specimens without variable water content.
