dialysate

Kidney machine fluid

Dialysate is the fluid used in dialysis to draw waste products and excess water from the blood.

The solution passes on one side of a semipermeable membrane while blood flows on the other, allowing toxins to cross while blood cells remain.

After the process, dialysate may also refer to the waste-containing fluid that's discarded: The dialysate was tested to measure how much urea had been removed.
