bursary
Need-based school aid
A bursary is a financial grant given to students to help pay for education, similar to a scholarship but typically awarded based on financial need rather than academic merit.
The term is more common in British, Canadian, and other Commonwealth usage than in American English: She received a bursary to cover her tuition fees.
