Hardboards is the plural of hardboard, a dense manufactured wood product made by compressing wood fibers under heat and pressure.
Unlike plywood, hardboard has no visible grain and presents a smooth, uniform surface.
It's used for backing furniture, underlayment, and pegboard: We lined the garage walls with hardboards for tool storage.
