Tack-ready wall surfaces
Softboards are bulletin boards made of soft material, typically cork or foam, that allow pins or tacks to be pushed in easily for posting notices, photos, or papers.
In surfing, a softboard (or soft-top) is a beginner-friendly surfboard with a foam deck rather than hard fiberglass: I learned on a softboard before upgrading to a shortboard.
