Decorative wall textiles
Hangings are decorative fabrics hung on walls—tapestries, curtains, or draperies that cover or adorn vertical surfaces: medieval wall hangings, the ornate hangings in the cathedral.
The word also refers to executions by hanging, though this plural is less common: public hangings drew large crowds in the 18th century.
