half nelson

Arm-under wrestling hold

A half nelson is a wrestling hold in which you trap your opponent by putting one arm under their arm from behind and pressing your hand against the back of their neck.

The hold controls the opponent's head and shoulder, often used to turn them for a pin.

A full nelson uses both arms.

He got me in a half nelson and I couldn't break free.
