guy ropes

Canvas stability lines

Guy ropes are cords or cables that anchor and stabilize a tent, mast, or other tall structure by running at an angle from the structure to the ground.

They prevent swaying or collapse in wind: Make sure the guy ropes are taut before the storm hits.

Also called guy lines or simply guys.
