grayscaling
Converting to monochrome
Grayscaling is converting a color image to shades of gray, removing all color information while preserving brightness values.
The technique is common in image processing, photography, and design.
More recently, grayscaling refers to setting a phone or device display to black and white, intended to reduce screen addiction by making apps less visually stimulating: I've been grayscaling my phone to cut down on doomscrolling.
