grand jete
Airborne dancer's split
A grand jeté is a ballet leap in which the dancer springs from one foot, extends both legs in a full split while airborne, and lands on the opposite foot.
The movement creates the impression of flying or soaring across the stage: She executed a flawless grand jeté across the diagonal.
From French, literally "big throw."
