Sadducee
Pharisee's ancient rival
A Sadducee was a member of a Jewish sect active during the Second Temple period, associated with the priesthood and temple aristocracy.
Unlike the Pharisees, Sadducees rejected belief in resurrection, angels, and oral tradition, accepting only the written Torah as authoritative.
The sect disappeared after the Roman destruction of the Temple in 70 CE.
The Sadducees say there is no resurrection.
