genealogists
Family tree builders
Genealogists are people who study family lineages and ancestry.
The work involves tracing descent through historical records—birth certificates, census data, immigration documents, DNA testing.
Professional genealogists may be hired to establish inheritance claims or verify lineage.
Amateur genealogists often pursue it as a hobby: She hired a genealogist to trace her family back to the 1600s.
