gang sign
Criminal hand symbol
A gang sign is a hand gesture used by members of a street gang to identify themselves or communicate with other members.
Different configurations of fingers signal affiliation with specific gangs: He flashed a gang sign at the camera.
The gestures often appear in rap videos and hip-hop culture, sometimes divorced from actual gang membership.
