military salute
Hand to brow
A military salute is a formal gesture of respect between service members, typically performed by raising the right hand to the forehead or temple.
The junior member initiates the salute; the senior member returns it.
Outside military contexts, salute extends to any gesture of honor or acknowledgment: The crowd gave a salute to the retiring champion.
