fuze
Explosive ignition device
Fuze is an alternate spelling of fuse, used especially in military and technical contexts for the device that detonates explosives: The artillery shell's fuze malfunctioned.
This spelling distinguishes the ignition mechanism from electrical fuses.
As a verb, to fuze is to equip with such a device: fuze the warhead.
