frock-coats

Victorian men's outerwear

Frock-coats is the plural of frock-coat, a formal men's garment popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The frock-coat is a knee-length coat with a fitted waist, typically double-breasted, worn buttoned up for business and formal daytime occasions.

It was the standard professional attire for Victorian gentlemen before being largely replaced by the shorter lounge suit.

The diplomats in their frock-coats gathered for the treaty signing.
