Hoodies is the plural of hoodie, a casual sweatshirt or jacket with an attached hood.
The garment became a cultural flashpoint in the 2010s when wearing one—particularly by young Black men—was treated as threatening or suspicious: He was killed for wearing a hoodie.
The word also refers informally to hooded crows.
