freedom struggle
Fight for independence
Freedom struggle refers to an organized movement against oppression, colonization, or political subjugation.
The term appears most often in discussions of anti-colonial movements, particularly India's campaign for independence from British rule: Gandhi led the freedom struggle through nonviolent resistance.
It emphasizes collective action over individual acts of rebellion, and carries connotations of moral legitimacy that terms like "insurgency" or "revolt" may lack.
