sneakernet
Data by foot
Sneakernet is the jocular name for transferring digital files by physically carrying storage media—a floppy disk, USB drive, or hard drive—from one computer to another.
The term plays on network names like Ethernet, substituting sneakers for cables.
Despite seeming primitive, sneakernet remains practical when files are too large for slow internet connections or when security requires avoiding networks entirely: I'll just sneakernet the video files over to you.
