VCRs
Obsolete cassette machines
VCR, which stands for video cassette recorder, is the name of a device that records and plays videotape cassettes.
VCRs are so-called to distinguish them from VTRs (video tape recorders), which use reels of tape.
The abbreviation is often used attributively: We watched a VCR tape.
