hard disks
Spinning data platters
Hard disks are data storage devices that use spinning magnetic platters to read and write information.
The term distinguishes them from solid-state drives, which have no moving parts.
Though increasingly replaced by faster flash storage, hard disks remain common for bulk storage where capacity matters more than speed: I keep my photo archive on an external hard disk.
